-Atria-
Kingdom of Spirits
The region's real name has been long forgotten-'Atria' is actually the name of the monarchy that rules over all of the region. Artria is the largest, most well known area that still relies on magic, swordsmanship, and 'the old ways.' Despite that Atria has chosen to close itself off from other regions with higher technology (in fear that war would spark due to difference in ideas) is is fairly well known by it's surrounding regions.
Atria is a temperate zone, so naturally it experiences different seasons. It's surrounded on all sides by mountains, assisting in their close off from the rest of the world. Entering the region is a dangerous trek, as the area is filled with all sorts of dangerous beasts and less then safe roads, if they could even be called that.
Atria, unlike most other regions, has a strict religion, believing that there are six guardian spirits that rule over their land; Solunna, the spirit of light and the leader of the lands, Aiqe, the trickster spirit of the waters, Erutian, the warrior fire spirit, Tetspera, the pacifistic wind spirit, Woldant, the distant but powerful earth spirit, and Creisl, the silent spirit of darkness. If there is any truth behind the existance of their deities or not is unknown, but that doesn't make the followers of it any less diligent to their beliefs.
Atrians are very tradition based and dislike change, which is one of the reasons they have closed themselves off from the world. Despite being closed off from the world, Atria is trying to improve on their own without influence from other regions. Sexism was recently abolished, with women no longer being considered property and being allowed to hold jobs of their own. However, as this is a fairly new rule just being put into place by the last king, there are still many who harbor prejudice.
Five years ago, the land was ravaged by a demon known as The Terror, only for it to be brought down by a lone, masked hero who gave his life to slay the beast. No one is sure who this hero was, or even exactly what he looked like; despite this, statues of various interpretations of the hero litter every major in the region.
